Summer 2009
“Supplying the Fabric of Our Heritage”

Welcome summer and hello to all of our friends,

That sweet summertime feeling is upon us.   If you are like me you are thrilled to have longer days
in which to play.  We take our gardening tools and head outside to create beauty in the earth, a
patchwork of posies in our yards.  Lucky for me those who tend to the courtyard have done an
outstanding job and I always feel like I work in the best place on earth – color and inspiration
inside and out!  Before long all of our work in the soil coupled with the warmth of the sun reward
us with a plethora of beauty and colors.  As the cycle continues the warmth turns to major heat and
humidity and there we go back inside to the coolness of our air conditioners and the plethora of
color waiting in our sewing rooms, a patchwork of posies waiting to be created.  What a sweet
cycle it is!

In anticipation of those great summertime months my staff and I have worked hard toward putting
together an extensive and quite comprehensive class roster.  You will find many of our classes
repeated and several new classes added.  We have something for everyone from beginner to
advanced, traditionalist to modernist, hand stitchers to machine piecers and bag ladies too!  We
certainly hope that you agree and find something that intrigues you.

Looking back just a bit I would like to extend my thanks to those of you who participated in the
Mullica Hill Quilt Company Spring Challenge, “Passion”.   As I suspected many of our customers
are amazingly creative and are quite skilled in the craft of quilting.  I, as well as the many people
that attended the show to register their vote, were extremely impressed with the quilts that came
from this brave group of people.  If you have been fortunate enough to visit the shop while they
were hanging, you know what I mean.  I extend my congratulations to our winners:

Lois Waddell, First Place and Our People’s Choice Winner
Caroline Kalfas, Second Place
Dale DeSoto, Third Place
Laverne Ziegenfuss, The Renegade Award (aka Best Rule Breaker)

As you might recall from our last newsletter Mullica Hill Quilt Company had the opportunity to work
with our good friend and customer, Jan Maatje for the launch of her charitable organization,
Shelter from the Storm.  I am extremely happy to report that we have had a wonderful response
from all of you.  The kindness that has been shown and the generosity of time, talent, and stash
has been extraordinary.  Both Jan and I are thrilled and cannot thank you enough for your support
and participation in this program.  Please continue to remember the fine work that this
organization does the next time you are going through your stash.  And please don’t forget our
Sunday Shelter from the Storm Stitchers events.  We have taken a break for the summer but will
resume in the fall with a brand new schedule, the dates of which will be listed in the shop and on
our website when they are set.  If you are interested in becoming a Shelter from the Storm Stitcher
or would like further information regarding this organization and how you can help make a
difference in the life of a child, please contact Jan Maatje at 856-582-0780 or jannyma48@aol.com.

One last bit of very exciting news to share!  It is my great pleasure to announce that Mullica Hill
Quilt Company has been invited to participate in the 2010 NJ Shop Hop.  We are thrilled to be
extended the opportunity to participate in such a special customer event and to be included in the
ranks as one of the finest quilt shops in the state.  We will announce further details as the event
approaches, in the meantime save the dates!
                     April 14th through April 18th

Don’t forget to visit our website www.mhquiltco.com often.  I hope to see all of you soon and until I
do…

Piece and good stitches!
