I hope that all of you had a wonderful holiday season. It is my wish that each of you were able to spend some time with those you love and some time doing what you love. Those are the two gifts I treasure most, not only through the holiday season but all year long. I am so pleased that Mullica Hill Quilt Company will celebrate its 2nd Anniversary on January 27th. We have had a wonderful year and our customer base continues to grow by leaps and bounds. We are so appreciative of all of your support and are grateful to all of you who share your enthusiasm for our business with your friends. In celebration, we are pleased to announce our 2nd Annual Big Bucket Fat Quarter Fever. This event was so much fun and so popular last year that many of you have asked me for the ’09 dates throughout the year. You know you’ve got something good when someone asks you in June for the date of an event that is scheduled for the following January! This year “The Fever” will take place Thursday, January 29th through Sunday, February 1st. Be Warned! – no fabric goes un-cut! We will be offering refreshments and will have a special daily drawing awarding a great surprise to some lucky quilter. We hope to see all of you for this wonderful celebration. I am equally as excited to introduce our first, Mullica Hill Quilt Company Spring Challenge. With so many of our customers showing such amazing creativity and terrific quilting talent it was just a matter of time before I threw this challenge out there. Our Spring Challenge theme will be, “Passion” and I can’t wait to see how this theme inspires all of you. When you decide to take the challenge you will be given 6 - 1/4 yd. cuts of challenge fabrics for a small entrance fee. To these fabrics you may add up to an additional 6 fabrics to create a quilt that will not exceed 75” x 75”. The quilt should represent your artistic point of view and expression of the word, “Passion”. The sky’s the limit! You can use whatever piecing and quilting techniques you would like and you can be as literal or as abstract as you are inspired to be. All entries will be hung in the Mullica Hill Quilt Company’s Spring Quilt Show. The entries will be judged and prizes will be awarded. Please inquire the next time you are in the shop for further details or to enter the challenge. Mullica Hill Quilt Company has had the opportunity to participate in some local charitable events since its inception and I have known from the beginning that I wanted to continue to expand this area of the business. With this in mind, it is with great pleasure and honor that we offer our support to our good friend and customer, Jan Maatje for the launch of her charitable organization, Shelter from the Storm. Jan has expressed to me her desire to do something for children in need for quite a while. It is my pleasure to do whatever I can to help her with this endeavor. There will be a specially marked collection box located in the shop for the collection of any scraps or unused fabric that you would like to donate. The fabric will be used to create quilts and gift items for children in need. In addition to this, we will be scheduling special “sit and stitch” events throughout the year to benefit Shelter from the Storm. If you are interested in becoming a Shelter from the Storm Stitcher or would like further information regarding this organization and how you can help make a difference in the life a child, please contact Jan Maatje at 856-582-0780 or jannyma48@aol.com. We are welcoming 3 new teachers to our shop this year. Karen Zoback, Lois Waddell, and Patsy Madden will be joining our classroom team and I couldn’t be happier or more excited. These girls are all so talented. It is my honor to host them in our shop. Karen Zoback, an award winning crazy quilter and hand embroiderer, will introduce a block- of-the-month project called “Bunnies in My Woodstown Garden”. It is truly spectacular and many of you have already seen it hanging in the shop. Lois Waddell, an active member of the Moorestown Area Quilters Guild will be teaching our T-Shirt Quilt project. So many of you have asked for this class and I am so grateful to Lois for teaching it for us. Patsy Madden joins us for her first time teaching experience with a project from the Elm Creek Quilt series. I hope all of you have an opportunity to meet them as you stop in the shop. I guarantee that you will find their classes of interest. We are also introducing our Thangles Club. The Thangles Club will be led by the wonderfully gifted Joanne Enos. Anyone who has used Thangles in the past knows how terrific this product is. If you have ever had trouble with points you will find this technique amazing. We’ll start with an easy project and build from there. It will be great fun! I hope that you find our new class roster and schedule of events refreshing, inspiring, and exciting as we move through the cold weather (keep me cozy under my quilts) months into the fresh re-birth (Oh my gosh, my head is popping with new ideas) of spring. As always our teachers have worked hard to bring new techniques, the latest patterns, and lots of inspiration to our classroom. Please continue to share your thoughts and ideas about the classes that are offered and those you would like to see offered, as well as any comments regarding the shop and products that we carry. Don’t forget to visit our website www.mhquiltco.com often. I hope to see all of you soon and until I do… Piece and good stitches! Annette |
