Oh, the sweet harvest is upon us once again! How good it is to feel the crispness in the air; to start thinking of holidays and families and all things warm and wonderful. Our quilts are no exception, offering beauty to our homes and comfort to our families. With this in mind, the fall class roster promises to be a rewarding one. We have many repeats and back by popular demands and have included some new and fresh pieces that promise to be exciting and inspiring. There is something for everyone and we promise that you will find all of your gift giving needs answered somewhere in the midst of all of it! So enjoy the roster as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you. Stop in the shop when it is convenient to view the class samples and to be further inspired by all of this crazy talent and creativity. My first order of business is to welcome Megan Guarney and Verna Gentle to our staff. Verna comes to us with much quilting experience and I would not be surprised if you have run into her in the shop already. Megan is our youngest addition and is very well versed in all things administrative. You will see her hanging out a lot with me. I would also like to welcome new instructor, Deborah Keane. Deb has been teaching quilting for quite some time and many of you may know her from her days with the Garden Patch Quilt Guild. It is an honor to have all of you join the team! Just in time for fall, it is my pleasure to announce a new up-coming quilt show in the area that I am very excited about. My good friend and customer, Jeni Beske will be hosting “Quilts in the Village”. This non-juried quilt show will take place at Friends Village in Woodstown, NJ and promises to be a wonderful addition to our local quilt exhibitions. There is so much local talent and we hope that each of you will consider an entry of your own. The dates for the show will be Friday, 11/6 and Saturday, 11/7. If you are interested in submitting a quilt for exhibiting at the show, please contact Jeni at 856-823-0778 or stop in the shop to pick up registration information and forms. The deadline for entry is September 30th. Can’t wait to see you there! Thanks to all of you Shelter from the Storm has had a spectacular launch. It did not take long for us to have a real impact in our community. There have been so many stories of comfort and help to others. God bless Jan and the work that she is doing. I am honored and humbled to be offered the opportunity to play a small part in it. She will soon be sending a “Shelter” newsletter out to all of you so keep your eyes open for it. There are several upcoming projects and events included that you may be interested in and a listing of donation items is also included. Of particular interest is our 1st Annual Shelter From the Storm Friendship Quilt Raffle as well as our 1st Annual Shelter From the Storm Fashion Show at Massos. Both of these events promise to be fun, exciting, and extremely rewarding. Details are available in the Shelter newsletter and you are welcome to inquire in the shop anytime. If you are interested in becoming a Shelter from the Storm Stitcher or would like further information regarding the organization and how you can help make a difference in the life of a child, please contact Jan Maatje at 856-582-0780 or jannyma48@aol.com. Don’t forget to visit our website www.mhquiltco.com often. I hope to see all of you soon and until I do… Piece and good stitches! Annette |
