I have just begun glimpsing some color change in the leaves and have felt some crispness in the air. These sensations create such an inspiration for me, signaling the change of season, new ideas, and a fresh outlook on what is to come. To start with there are a few changes here at The Company. Meghan is off to school and her transition has been wonderfully seamless. She is a proud freshman at Arcadia University in Glenside, PA and after all the agonizing that went into our search and the final decision it turns out that it is perfectly suited to her which makes this momma feel a whole lot better about things. The nest is definitely empty but watching a beautiful bird in flight is a wonderful thing. We are welcoming new teacher, Verna Gentle to our shop and I am very excited for all of you to meet her if you haven’t already. Verna is an excellent seamstress as you will see if you take a close look at her samples. Of course, we think it may run in the family as her cousin is one of the owners of the quilt shop and pattern company, “Calico Printworks” in Racine, Wisconsin. They’re the gals that make those great “Mostly Table Runners” books that we all love. We’re also “officially” welcoming our new employee, Danielle Redfield. Many of you have become acquainted with Danielle this summer as she worked quite a bit helping us cover for vacations. Danielle is the daughter of employee and class instructor, Debbie Redfield. She is a “new” quilter and I love that she offers that fresh perspective. She’ll be the first one to admit that she doesn’t know everything and has a lot to learn but one thing is for sure, she is a true quilter at heart. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that she is acquiring her Master’s Degree in mathematics and is a high school mathematics teacher. She really comes in handy when it comes to quilter’s math! She has a great eye for color and I hope that all of you enjoy working with her as much as I do. The change of the season brings a new, wonderfully fresh class roster. As always our teachers have worked hard to bring new techniques, the latest patterns, and seasonal offerings, all of which are hard to resist. We have also kept some of our customer favorites and those classes that no roster should ever do without. As always I ask that you continue to share your thoughts and ideas about the classes that are offered and those you would like to see offered, as well as any comments regarding the shop and products that we carry. Your input is invaluable and always appreciated. We will have a few special events occurring in the coming months. Once again, we will be hosting the Mullica Hill Quilt Company’s Fall Festival Quilt Show. This year we are thrilled to be featuring quilt artist, Christina Johnson. Christina’s exhibit, “Voices on Cloth” has most recently been shown at Villanova and we are honored to have her and her work at the shop. Check our website for updated information on Christina Johnson and “Voices on Cloth”. The Mullica Hill Fall Festival is always a wonderful event here in town as well as Mullica Hill’s Christmas in the Village. We will be hosting our 2nd Annual Big Bucket Fat Quarter Fever to celebrate our second anniversary in January. Don’t forget “The Company’s Clearance Corner” which has been hugely popular. Here you will find the same great, high-quality fabrics at fabulous prices. Don’t forget to take some time to visit us and start a Christmas Wish Box card. This was very successful last year and we had a lot of happy quilters under their trees last year. Of course, always try to visit our website www.mhquiltco.com for the dates of all of our upcoming events. We will be adding photographs of all of our class samples to the site. It may take some time but I am very excited about this new addition. Thank you, Rob! I hope to see all of you soon and until I do enjoy the beautiful change of season and… Piece and good stitches!
