This impressive quilt of large rectangles with a shadowing effect is surely an eye-catcher. You will want to work on this quilt quickly just so that you can see exactly how your fabric selection comes together. Of course you can choose from any fabrics not just batiks and isn’t that part of the fun! A fat-quarter friendly pattern. Learn basic pattern reading techniques, how to interface projects, and practice adding your own fun embellishments! It’s also stunning when made from a collection of two or three color fabrics for a modern look. Two different techniques - using the pineapple rule or foundation piecing will be discussed. We will also explore using the center of the pineapple block as a frame for fabric photo transfers, fussy cut designs, or embroidery. We’ll employ a combination of rotary cutting and traditional template techniques. We’ll also cover the piped edge which is an ideal finish for any irregular edge. This quilt is made with Log Cabin and Flying Geese blocks. You will learn two methods for making Log Cabin blocks and an easy, magic, no waste way to make Flying Geese blocks. You’re just gonna love how beautiful this quilt comes together. A rag quilt is quick, easy, fun, and stress free. This class is for anyone who doesn’t think they have enough patience to make a quilt and everyone who wants to join in the fun. Seams don’t even have to be perfectly matched to create a quilt that will be sure to become every one in the family’s favorite. If the squares were pre-cut by a Mom or Grandmother, this class would be perfect for any kid who can use a sewing machine. Kids who are confident using a rotary cutter are also welcome. Some homework between classes required if completion by the end of class is expected. Instructor: Joanne Enos Cost: $45.00 This favorite mystery quilt makes up so wonderfully that many of our students make it over again. That’s why we have decided to take the mystery out of it and offer it as a “non-mystery” class. If you would like to keep it a mystery, we can do that too, just let us know. We definitely know how to keep a secret and we can easily keep the finished quilt a secret from you. In either case, there’s no mystery how beautiful the end result is. This quilt is a dazzler! It is a Jelly Roll friendly quilt that is fun to make and you will love the outcome. We will also go over applying borders to square up a quilt with bias edges. Easy to do! Level: AB - E Supplies: M, RB, SB, B Tues, 7/20, 8/17, and 9/21 – 10 am to 12:30 pm OR Mon, 7/19, 8/16, 9/20 – 6 to 8:30 pm Diane’s Garden Instructor – JoAnneRoss Cost - $40.00 Diane’s Garden is an easy and fun way to get a stained glass look with no bias needed. Simple fusing with Steam-a-Seam 2 and a blanket or zigzag stitch on your machine does it all. This quilt uses bright, colorful florals and is a real eye catcher. The shop sample is done with Kaffe Fassett florals, (we have a great selection in the shop) but would be equally beautiful in any bright florals on a black or dark background. Level: AB - E Supplies: M, RB, P, SB Weds, 7/14, 7/21, and 7/28 - 1 pm to 3 pm or Tues, 8/17, 8/24, and 8/31 – 6 pm to 8 pm It’s A Wrap II, Sweetheart Basket Instructor: Kathy Ziegenfuss Cost: $30.00 This sweet, heart shaped basket comes from the very popular “It’s a Wrap II” book. It is made using the wrap and coil method with clothesline, fabric strips, and zigzag stitching. We had such a blast doing the round basket now let’s kick it up a notch and add some shape! Level: AB – E Supplies: B, M, RB, SB Thurs, 7/29, and 8/5 – 10 am to 12:30 pm I Spy Tumbling Blocks Instructor: Verna Gentle Cost: $40.00 This quilt has an easy construction method for your blocks. Gather up your theme fabrics to Spy on. When you’re done you’ll have a tumbling blocks quilt that focuses on the fun things you’ve picked. This is the perfect choice for a great child’s quilt!
